No problem! Everyone is starting at a different place with his/her own body. Yoga allows you to lengthen and expand your muscles, helping to release toxins and increase flexibility.
Why is the room heated for some Yoga classes?
Several of our classes are held in a heated room which helps stretch muscle fibers and tendons. This can aid in preventing injuries to these areas while stretching. The warmer temperature also helps increase circulation throughout the body to help boost the immune system and rid the body of toxins.
I keep slipping on my Yoga mat. What can I do to help?
New mats can often be the slipperiest, especially during heated classes when your body is warm and perspiring. Try bringing a towel with you to use strategically as needed. Other helpful options include using ToeSox or a Yogitoes Skidless towel, both of which can be purchased in the Yoga Lounge.
Will I be sore following my Yoga class?
Possibly. It will depend on if you are just starting out, how often you are practicing, and how your body individually repairs itself. Should I eat before coming to class?
Your body is a finely tuned machine and thus needs energy to fuel it. Energy comes from food. While everyone’s body is unique and has different needs, we suggest making sure you’ve had at least a good snack a couple hours prior to attending a class so your body has fuel to burn. On the flip side, you don’t want to eat a large meal just prior to exercising as it will tend to make you feel heavier and sluggish as your body expends more energy to digest your meal.
